The Story Between Us (“we”, “us”) makes personalised illustrated books to order.
You (“the buyer”) commission one illustrated book about two people (“the couple”). We contact each of them separately, ask them a series of questions over several weeks, and turn their answers into an illustrated book.
Every commission includes the digital edition: the finished book on screen, plus every illustration at full size and in shareable cuts. If your package includes print, we also bind a hardback and post it to you. If your package includes the anniversary book, we make a second book a year on, under section 6.
The book is made once, for you. It is not resold or reused.
You must have permission to share photographs of the couple with us.
We contact each partner before using their photographs and ask them directly. If either declines, we illustrate the book without their likeness and the order proceeds at a reduced specification. If either partner asks us to stop contacting them, we stop, and section 9 applies.
We delete reference photographs once the book is delivered — the print shipped, or the digital edition handed over. We do not use them to train anything, and we do not create biometric templates from them.
The illustrations are generated using artificial intelligence, in a single house style you choose, and are then reviewed and corrected by a person before you see them. We do not claim they are drawn by hand.
The couple’s words are their own. We edit lightly for length and clarity, never to change meaning.
Prices are in US dollars and shown before you pay. Payment is through Stripe; we never see or store your card details. It is taken in parts, each at the moment the thing it pays for is real:
Sales tax is added where we are required to collect it.
Cover and paper upgrades are quoted separately and are never charged without your agreement.
You will see a full proof before anything is printed. Two rounds of changes are included; further rounds are $45 each, and that rate is shown at checkout before you commission. Changes we caused are always free.
If you do not approve the proof by the deadline, we cannot guarantee delivery before the wedding, and section 10 no longer applies.
| Situation | Outcome |
|---|---|
| The couple do not engage — the book would be blank | Full refund, automatically. We never bind a blank book |
| We miss a delivery date we committed to | Full refund |
| You change your mind before production begins | Full refund |
| You change your mind once production has begun | No refund |
Once production has begun the book is personalised and cannot be resold, so the usual right to cancel does not apply to it. In the UK that is the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, reg. 28(1)(b); in the EU, the Consumer Rights Directive Art. 16(c).
“Production begins” means the point at which we send files to the printer. We tell you when that is.
If either partner withdraws consent, or asks us to delete their data, we honour it immediately, even part-way through. We will tell you, and refund you in full if the book cannot be completed.
The digital edition is delivered the moment you approve the proof. If your package includes print, we deliver the hardback to the address you give us — timed to arrive before the wedding date if the timeline we showed you at order allowed it and you approved the proof on time. Carrier delays outside our control are not covered by section 8, but we will tell you as soon as we know.
We will not print content that is unlawful, defamatory, or abusive about someone who has not consented. We may decline to include specific answers, and will tell you why. If that makes the book unworkable, we refund in full.
